This cockatoo sure can dance

This story involves a cockatoo that can dance – and the researchers who have spent the past decade studying him.

Snowball has 14 different moves in his dance routine which experts believe shows some birds are capable of sophisticated cognitive control and , like us, parrots share a tendency to dance when the music moves them.

Sky’s Noel Phillips reports.

  1. Most all medium and large sized Parrots enjoy dancing. Eg. macaws and amazons, even cockatiels. So dancing in the parrot family is not unique to or limited to just cockatoos.

  2. Ever notice whenever the subject of Parrot intelligence comes up,some people start to chime in with comparisons to crows and ravens ? Very strange. i guess they have a preference for crows and ravens. They are ugly compared to parrots who have been referred to as feathered primates.

  3. Nonhuman Animals, are given so little credit. they can do&understand more then we think they do. even ones less intelligent, still form bonds with others, and grieve when loved ones pass on. yet, we exploit their bodies, abuse&kill them for food, experiments and so many other disturbing things. 💔

  4. 1:09 “How is a bird can posses such rhythm?”

What stupid thing to say about birds

I mean they can literally do sing, chirp and whistle harmonies and rhythms humans never could imitate and some can even talk. Some are even called song birds.

  5. Keeping these beautiful birds as criminal prisoners behind millions of bars n trying to study how beautiful they dance is just typical horrific human act💔💔💔hypocrisy on it’s peek 😡

  6. I had a parakete that used to dance and headbang to heavy metal music, he would even throw his head back with his beak open during the extended vocals like he was singing.

  7. I had a Congo African Grey Parrot named "Gandalf" that used to love to dance to old Stax and Motown music and a Grey Cockatiel named "Jari" who was in love with Paul McCartney's music! 🎶 😁

  8. I taught my Cockatoo, Mangle, to drive. He chauffeurs me everywhere. He's got a little hat and everything. We get stopped by the Police alot, but when Mangle starts dancing, the officer is usually laughing too much to remember why they pulled us over. It's all good.

  9. I really do believe – I know – birds have souls and big loving, joyful hearts. I do remember seeing a cockatoo dancing to "Macho Man". I couldn't stop laughing! 💕

  10. That bird is just amazing and awesome made me want to get one like him and that's saying a lot cause I don't like birds been scared of them since I had a bat fly in my hair and bite me when I was 8 yrs old and had to have a series of rabies shots…cool bird!!!!
