The Lovely Bones

From Academy Award winning director Peter Jackson comes the extraordinary story about one girl’s life, and everything that came after. When 14-year-old Susie Salmon was murdered, she left her unfinished life behind. But now from her place in a strange but beautiful in-between world, she must help her father catch her killer and protect her family before she can finally move on. Filled with thrilling suspense, hope and the redeeming power of love, it’s “One of the best films of the year. Incredibly powerful.” — Harry Knowles, Ain’t it Cool News

  1. I kind of wonder what the point of this movie was. So she dies in the beginning of the movie, but she has no influence over the things that are happening in the land of the living. So she's just watching. What's the point?

  2. HOW SAD WE HAVE IN THIS DAY THE ABILITY TO TELL THE TRUTH ABOUT DEATH AS TOLD BY CHRIST WHO TOLD THE BEGIN AND END. FROM LIFE TO HIS RESURRECTION; AND YET TIME IS WASTED ON TALES OF THE SO CALLED IN BETWEEN. THERE IS NO IN BETWEEN ACCORDING TO ECCLESEASTES….3 SAYS…"THE DEAD NO LONGER HAVE ANY PART IN THIS WORLD." AND HEBREWS 9.27 SAYS…"ITS APPOINTED TO A MAN ONCE TO DIE THEN JUDGEMENT. " THEREFORE, WISDOM DICTATES TO…LIVE EACH DAY OF THIS LIFE FOR AFTER DEATH. THIS MEANS LIV IN CHRIST JESUS AND FOR JESUS. OR IT WILL NOT BE AS THOS MOVIE WOULD HAVE U THINK. THAT IS DEATH, THEN A HAPPY PLACE. EVEN CHILDREN GO TO HELLFIRE ETERNAL, SINCE ROMANS 5 SAYS ALL .."HAVE THE SIN OF ADAM ON THEM, NONE ARE INNOCENT. ROMANS 3.17-20 SAYS…"NOT ONE OF THEM IS UPRIGHT, NOT A SINGLE ONE, NOT A SINGLE ONE IS WIS, NOT A SINGLE ONE SEEKS GOD, ALL HAVE TURNE AWAY, ALL TURNED SOUR , NOT ONE OF THEM DOES RIGHT, NOT A SINGLE ONE." SO ALL HUMANS EXCEPT CHRIST DESERVE TO GO TO HELL. THIS IS GODS VERDICT. MAY CHRIST BLESS U WITH RIGHT UNDERSTANDING. PLEASE BE SAVED IN CHRIST JESUS. AND CATHOLICISM IS NOT OF CHRIST. LOVE U. THANK U. AS FOR ME I'M BAPTIZED A BAPTIST AND BELIEVE UPON THE HOLYBIBLE. THANKS. THIS MOVIE IS JUST A LIE, A WELL TOLD FANTASY. MAY PETER JACKSON LEARN THE TRUTH AND GET SAVED. HELL LIKE ETERNITY, IS LONG. THANKS.

  3. I loved this Movie. The Girl that played Suzie Salmon reminds me of my sister when she was young. My sister was a tormented soul. She was actually my step sister. Her mother abandoned her at age 5 years old with the baby sitter while her father was working in the Gulf of Mexico. My sister never felt like she ever was secure. She had a circle of people who she loved and everyone of the older ladies she called momma. Thats all she ever wanted was a momma who loves her. She grew up and had a family of her own…but to me she will always be that 7 year old lost child. Thats when my parents got married. I was 11 and she was 7. I lost her in January due to Cancer. She had it and discovered it too late. It metastasized to her lungs and she had a horrible death. I can only hope her afterlife is filled with joy.

  4. I’m going to be honest.. this is one of my favorite movies.. me and my mother watched it together ever since i was 9 or 10. This movie still makes me cry till this day…

  5. Wow! Awesome movie! Sorry I didn't see it sooner. Great cast. Great performances by Stanley Tucci, Susan Sarandon, and the rest. Not exactly what I was expecting, but very good. This movie confirms my belief that the deceased are never really gone and they watch over us and have Suttle ways of communicating with us. I lost both my parents at a young age almost thirty years ago, and to this day I still feel their presence. Live your life to the fullest and be as happy as you can! And watch this movie, you'll like it!

  6. The most important thing I was taught back then was that a high percentage of SA juvenile victims KNEW THEIR PERPETRATOR
Also that it's okay to be "rude" (declining an invitation) and if they won't respect your "no", then to avoid them
The ending for this movie is really sad but it's a good lesson to learn from.

  7. Good 🎥 movie hard to watch makes me angry this really happens evil pervert child molester pedophiles perpetrators rapist. Kidnappers murders prey on innocent kids never get caught get away with it i love Susan Sarandon in this movie and Mark Wahlberg is amazing performance as a loving caring dad. I love how the evil murder pedophile rapist finally got hos karma even though it took too long glad he. Finally got it .justice was served .eye 4 a eye

  8. This movie was so sad I promised myself I wasn't going to watch it again and dammit I'm watching it 😢my husband said I know you ain't crying I said I'm yawning my eyes gets watery 🤣🤫don't tell nobody.

  9. Am I the only was that was p*ssed when the mother left her own grieving husband and children behind. Then denied the entire existence of her deceased daughter when she started her life over. Just me? Ok.

  10. This movie brought back so many memories I remember being a kid watching it with my dad he passed away 3 years ago and finally seeing it again brings me back to watching movies that scared the absolute dog shit out of me but watching this movie now 13 years later kind of puts a smile on my face especially since I’m a true crime and scary movie buff

  11. One of the best movies ever made.
I swear the ghosts of childhood murder victims past guided Peter Jackson and the actors and others in the making of this movie.
The expanse of love across the realm of life is explored in this movie.
From the experiences of a young girl trapped between here and there.
This is not a feel good movie.
It is a exploration of what we sow , the waves of life return to us.
Relax and watch life in between worlds right before your eyes.
Told with respect and love for those gone too soon.
    May they rest in peace.

  12. Exceptional , nothing compares to the quality achieved here.
Writing cast direction ,the way it was filmed was epic to give you an experience like you were there and going through it with her.👍

  13. I understand completely but my quest for the truth about my mother Eular Agnes Robinson Moss, Elvis Presley and JFK, here is my only connection to my mother and Elvis: Hysterical Fan Grabbing Elvis Presley’s Pants Leg/ click on Miami Beach Miami Connection 411 scroll to 6th photo my mother is the one right at the stage grabbing my fathers feet. Reason I am heartfelt about my mother from what I understand with my mothers father Ira Fleming Robinson that my mother did not do drugs when she went to N. Y. with my father Elvis she was hit on left side of her brain so bad she had to have a plate for a piece of her skull missing my understanding was her brain bone would eventually grow to cover the hole, she went into a hospital in Roychester, N.Y., that was year 1955 now if I was born 11-15-55 the time Elvis went to N. Y. on a train and the time he left my birth matches up as to when they were in N.Y., he left her he went on to Florida now catch the time span) she got out of the Roychester, N.Y. hospital she went to her grandparents home left me for I was born in that hospital. See my birth certificate showed how horrible my mother was done. Ok so she gets out of the hospital in year 1956 pay attention 1956 my mother could not have been so sick for what they did to her. My birth was what condemned my mother and my father. Sam Phillips quit being Elvis’s agent and in March 1955 Col. Tom Parker took over. You will read how the Col. Parker scammed lots of money off Elvis. Like Parker had the goods on Rlvis to demand that much money, I believe the Col. knew deep bad secrets on Elvis. I am poor but I was married 4 times my first husband 18 years older than myself, now here is a clincher Jim Youngblood the all pro football player dated me. I did not realize at my first husbands church was lots of Youngblood’s see it was a man identical to JFK who once doctored me his name was ( go to Find A Grave of Dr. Robert G. Mann, Sr. of Easley, SC the doctor nicknamed me Subshine and his nurse was identical to Monroe what made me remember her was I was buck naked and I cracked a vulgar saying she started crying and laughing at the same time. Well he was coming to Greenville, SC to Berea First Baptist Church to see Preacher Baker a preacher later saying he wanted to date me his wife was dying he was a good looking man but I WAS NOT INTERESTED why cause I was in love with Winton Clyde Crawford, now here is one you should be able to investigate after it was a no go with Preacher Baker, Jack Gardo had served in the Navy with JFK Jack use to he and his wife Guynell they would eat dinner at our home they allowed Inez Reid Dover to let Gardo’s children play with us foster children now Jan was my my age Guy her brother the youngest. Jackie the oldest daughter never played with us children. I am giving y’all the age gap of Jack Gardo and me because he tried so hard to get me to date him he’d follow me when I’d be on my way to stay with Winton Crawford. No I never dated Jack and his son to my last knowledge was a secret detective for Pickens, SC I hold allot of respect for Jan, and Guy and to my knowledge Jackie died his oldest daughter. I believe that Dr. Robert G. Mann, was JFK why because to many add it to JFK. I never have had my DNA done till I used Family Tree DNA and with my bloodline they told me and I investigated it in my European bloodline was the Egyptian bloodline exactly like Elvis had said about himself. Now this information was not released till the DNA people knew for a fact about Elvis. See all this happened because of Elvis helping JFK. See Elvis set them up for his benefit. Now the man who is identical to JFK is buried at Robinson/ Duckett funeral home not the old cemetery at the old Duckett/ Robinson funeral home see that grave is across from the old Funeral home at the railroad tracks you will also see the town and the train the Presbyterian Church is behind that one, seek to find new funeral home that is where JFK ( Dr. Robert G. Mann, Sr. of Easley, SC is buried, now to stop grave robbers it is said John F. Kennedy( Dr. Mann, Sr. had his son brought in from Arizona. No matter how rich you are someone will tell on you at some point and time.

  14. Hi. Just here to say the author of this book wrongly accused an innocent black man of being the man that assaulted her. He had to do time in prison.
Be careful who you support and their internalized racism.

  15. The killer is able to dig a gigantic hole and construct the "clubhouse" in the middle of the field, in the middle of the night(one night?), surrounded by houses, and nobody sees or hears? This plot hole is as big as the one dug in the field. Other than that, this a great film. The book is even better.

  16. Wow what an amazing movie probably the best movie I've seen so far! I did however wish they would have added him being tormented in Hell! Maybe being beaten by every girl or tortured by every girl that he had taken!

  17. This is definitely my favorite movie. The way the murderer dies! Karma. I remember bawling my eyes out the first time I watched this, but now I just smile cause I know the ending the satisfaction!

  18. John 3:19-21 (NIV): "This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God."

  19. May the fears and anger and pain caused by the greedy and wounded souls be healed forevermore and always in the vast Heaven we have both Within and Above to the point of forgetting. Let time be born without these sins any further, washed by the great Love of our Creator from all of existence.

  20. That was good. I had never wanted to watch it before because
I thought it would make me sad. It did. But knowing that there is an
afterlife. An eternity that awaits us all, the good as well as the evil is of great comfort.
Everyone gets what's coming to em sooner or later, mark my words. I've seen it. Justice
will be given to all. It's the spiritual and fundamental law of nature. We aint seen nothin yet!

  21. My God can't believe I never saw this film! I'm 45 min. Into the movie, however 5 min into it I knew I wanted to watch it with my daughter, she is currently 11 and the mere thought terrified me. We will definitely watch this again this evening as she returns from school. I swear Even me making this comment at this moment I have to say has me terrified. Someone commented there is nothing wrong with saying no to an adult, and was a great point.

  22. A stupid, phantasmagoric rendering of murder, full of wishful thinking and inappropriate scenes of beauty. Murder, torture, and cruelty of all kinds is horrible and should never be portrayed with beautiful music and imaginings of an afterlife that supposedly compensates for the loss.

  23. If Susie were one of my kids, Mr. Harvey wouldn't die with an icicle. They wouldn't be able to find his body either. I know, I sound insane, but I'm insanely protective of kiddos. It's unfortunate that there weren't any crime channels like Investigation Discovery around to educate them. If I want to go somewhere alone, my mom says, "Do you want to end up on ID?" Trust me, it's worth letting kids watch things like that to help keep them safe!

  24. I remember seeing this movie when I was 14 and it definitely made me scarily aware of my surroundings and to trust my vibes about people. I eventually found out that the vice principal of my jr. high, which thanks to this film, I avoided like the plague, was convicted of indecent liberties with a child. Multiple staff members of my jr. high also had indecent relations with girls there. It was a scary life semi mimicking art moment. All of it was very surreal.

  25. The one thing hated about the movie is they never knew that awful guy had murdered her and other peoples kids. He got his karma but it is hell on earth and beyond to not get justice, especially if you don’t even know who stole your child away from you. I would have would have rather them end the movie with him being caught. And their families know what happened to them. So they at least could have that. Instead of always wondering where they are and who stole their life away. Child and teen killers will be at the bottom of Dante’s hell. He believed that he’ll had levels of awfulness where the worst ones being at the bottom levels, and I always reserve that for child and teen predators and televangelists! Anyone that takes advantage of the most vulnerable of us will be there in my opinion. Like Jesus said what you have done to the least of my people, you have done to me.
