The Hollars

A struggling NYC artist, John Krasinski, is forced to return to the small middle-American town he left behind after learning about his mother’s illness. Back in the house he grew up in, John is immediately swept up in the problems of his dysfunctional family, high school rival, and an over-eager ex-girlfriend as he faces impending fatherhood with his NYC girlfriend (Anna Kendrick, Academy Award Nominee, Up in the Air, Best Supporting Actress, 2009). From a script by Jim Strouse that is at turns hilarious and heartbreaking, John Krasinski’s second feature is a poignant look at the bonds of family and friendship.

  1. Hard to lose a spouse. Just as all families. It was pretty touching .The concerns , the things going on in the lives as days just go. You just love then they are gone and you need to start over. I liked how he babied her . Ice cream and all. Ice cream is good .

  2. The ending is hilarious! I knew a couple, she was a delivery nurse and he was a mortician. She would joke,
" I'm the first person they see and he is the last person they see…."

  3. Shared with my whole family. Told them it's a trainwreck but it's beautiful. Just bought tickets to visit my Parents for the next 3 Holidays. Even Halloween. Why is it we only "go back home" when our Parents are sick? Ditto to Sharon-would love to see a sequel! Great job John!🤗

  4. I picked this because I saw John Krasinski and Margo Martindale in the cast, esp. Krasinski! And then to see at the end that he also directed it. Should have known! It was great! ♥️♥️
