MLB’s offseason has been one of have’s and have not’s. The ones that haven’t (or have barely) spent have made themselves known by their inaction. The ones that have played the free agency game? They’ve thrown money around without restraint. Daddy Steve’s contract to Juan Soto? Still insane to think about.
But the real controversy, in the eyes of the baseball world, is with what’s happening with the Dodgers. They took the Mickey Mouse ring jokes personally. After winning the World Series, they turned team budget off on MLB: The Show. High-profile free agents signing with LA left and right and the only thing the rest of us can do is watch in horror. Not to mention the controversy is at an all-time high. Baseball fandom is at an uproar, and the demands for a salary cap are not only coming from outside the league, but inside as well.
So what does this mean for baseball? Is it a bad thing that the Dodgers are spending? Should every other team simply give up since LA won the offseason? This video will explain things… I think.
