Perseverance Rover’s Descent and Touchdown on Mars (Official NASA Video)

NASA’s Mars 2020 Perseverance mission captured thrilling footage of its rover landing in Mars’ Jezero Crater on Feb. 18, 2021. The real footage in this video was captured by several cameras that are part of the rover’s entry, descent, and landing suite. The views include a camera looking down from the spacecraft’s descent stage (a kind of rocket-powered jet pack that helps fly the rover to its landing site), a camera on the rover looking up at the descent stage, a camera on the top of the aeroshell (a capsule protecting the rover) looking up at that parachute, and a camera on the bottom of the rover looking down at the Martian surface.

The audio embedded in the video comes from the mission control call-outs during entry, descent, and landing.

Also bitte, was wollen wir da, außer unseren Forscherdrang zu befriedigen?

  2. I hope you find the Gold and other minerals deep inside the mountain ridges of that planet. I dont believe that billions of dollars are been invested just to get to the bottom of the origins of the universe. What alot of bollox. In America if theres not momentary value then theres no investment. And should you find that Gold? I will feel very sorry for idiotic humans who will be convinced they are going there for a new begining and the origins of the universe purposes.

  3. As a kid I read tattered library books with black & white photos beamed back to Earth from probes. I never thought I would have an experience like this. It's space exploration made real in a visceral way. Well done, JPL.

  4. You believe what you just saw is the surface of the moon because that’s what you’ve been told it is. If only more people engaged in critical thinking.

  5. yes they have the ability to track the rover landing in mars and taking pictures and videos but they still don't even think to send real human to discover mars , is like they land in the desert of some country 🙂

  6. I’m sure I’m not the only person who NASA let to believe that wooow now we are gonna see loads of gigabyte pictures from Mars but now and again we learned that the Chinese already overflew Mars.

Now that leaves me with a question, could all the money you spend have been used more important places like for instance here back on earth.?

NASA seems so unimportant at this point of time where earth is getting overcrowded and we don’t have enough foot to feed the poorest people, you are a shame and have no respect from me that I will say.

    👎🏻

  7. Fun fact: The reason why you can’t see flames from the sky cranes jets is because of the lack of oxygen on Mars. Therefore, no oxygen, no reaction. Unlike Earth.

  8. No one else find it odd that video of this quality is never (and has never) been shown from the surface of Mars? No sweeping shots of the landscape or the sky at night on Mars? Absolutely nothing.

  9. Lol I’ve seen more technology come out of the Chinese army… or a bgrade sci-fi movie Come on really?? Is this as good as it gets? Hilarious… really

  10. 3:13 "ready to begin seeking the signs of past life" sounds like a video clip from WALL-E hundreds of thousands of years later if they find out there is no life in most of the milky way

  11. I see a lot of people talking about "humanity", but let's be honest, it is specifically the Americans who are achieving all of the great feats. Instead of using general terms like "humans" and "humanity", let us give credit to the Americans for furthering human exploration.

  12. I feel like everything feels surreal after watching this. This is just madness. I can't believe this isn't Earth, but Mars. Martian nature, mountains, plains etc. No influence from development on Earth🤩😍🎉🎉
