But the problem with underground tanks is the temperature of the fuel, which means if you fill you vehicle on a cold day, the fuel ia warmer than your fuel tank and you get less fuel than what you are paying for. Above ground tanks are the same temperature as the air and if they leak it's easier to spot and doesn't contaminate the ground around the tanks as much. Plus the fuel going into your vehicle is at the same temperature as your fuel tank, so you are paying for the proper amount of fuel going into your tank.
