In this episode of my stone house restoration journey, the roof of the massive terrace finally comes together! After framing the wooden structure in the previous video, I now move on to installing a durable metal roof, designed to last for years. First, I treated the entire wooden structure with linseed oil, protecting it from the elements and giving it a fresh, polished look. After that, I installed hooks to secure the gutters (soon to come) and prepared the roof for efficient water drainage. The roofing material I used is a trapezoidal metal sheet with a shallow wave, featuring a geotextile layer underneath to reduce condensation and prevent dripping moisture. I also added snow guards to the roof to ensure snow stays in place, preventing excessive weight from damaging the gutters during winter. Finally, I connected vertical downspouts to redirect water to temporary drainage points, completing this phase of the terrace build.
Every step of this process reflects the effort and attention to detail needed to create a structure that is both functional and visually appealing.
