If a ground hog thought as we do, what would he be thinking? "I get fed great food and am well taken care of, in a cage. I travel the world and meet fans who adore me, in a cage. People make noise and faces at me. They smile and cheer when they see me, in a cage. People pet me and scratch my head. They hold me up in the air and say they love me. They say I am the great prognosticator. I get all these praises, then they put me back, in a cage. People watch me cuddle with my female, in a cage. I know I'm going to die, in a cage. If I ever have a son, people will pretend he is me, and lock him in a cage for his entire life as they are doing with me. If I don't have a son, people will select another lucky Groundhog to replace me, in a cage. They tell everyone that some magic potion keep giving me more life. Why do they do this to me? Why do they do this to us? Ho yea. They do it because they pretend to believe that I can predict how long winter will last if I see my shadow. I don't even know what a shadow is. They do it for their pleasure. They do it to me because I am a marketing tool I think. What's a marketing tool. Do they love me? I don't know. I am safe though. No predators. Don't have to forage for food. Don't have to worry about weather or a place to live. I am cared for. But, am I truly a Groundhog any longer? No. Am I a pet? Yes, and no. I am a slave to their idea. Yes. I know I will never be free. Am I happy about that? I think I'd rather be a Groundhog.

I think I met John Griffiths 5 years ago ( in June ) when outside his den at the cute library there.My hubby and I were on vacation in PA and I wanted to see Phil and his family.They had Phil in his big plastic can on the back of a black pick up truck.They were taking him to a school that afternoon.I got my pix taken with him,he was so cute!!!
