In the AU where Clara is a harpy and Kree is a human. (They are not gender swapped, just species swapped). Both are part of a southern-based group that are trying to stop harpy hunting. Its kind of like a resistance corps where they try to free trapped harpies + help harpies wounded by hunters + try to prevent hunters from continuing their practices by destroying their resources.
Clara would have been a domesticated harpy, taken from a young age by a wealthy and bored human man who wanted to try keeping her as a pet. She gets saved by the corps before Kree joins it and helps them in exchange for being taken care of, since she cannot survive on her own in the wild.
Kree would have initially been pressured by his family and friends to be a harpy hunter, but learns how cruel it truly is and abandons it for the anti-hunting corps. It’s there that he meets Theo (his friend in the beginning) and begins to have feelings for Clara.
Their ages would probably be swapped, so Clara would be in her late 30s and Kree would be in his early to mid 20s. Theo would be in his late 20s.
Clara would be welcome in the anti-hunter camps and they’re based in the south so there’s no need for Clara to migrate, Kree and Clara would be around each other all year long in this scenario. There would definitely still be a HEAVY stigma for Kree falling in love with Clara and vice versa though. The humans of the corps may be on the side of the harpies, but at this point are still against inter-species relationships, thinking that it’s unnatural.
Canon Kree and Clara would’ve at some point found out about the anti-hunting corps, but wouldn’t join it because it’s a pretty dangerous lifestyle since the group often breaks the law (arson, B&E, etc) and gets into violent fights with harpy hunters. Also, like I said before, the corps wouldn’t be accepting of Kree and Clara’s romantic relationship and would likely not be allowed to stay long.
