Plenty of achievements are hard work, that’s the point. Some games take it too far, though, with gamerscore rewards that definitely aren’t worth the enormous effort you have to put in to earn them. Hit the jump for the most egregious examples of games having absolutely zero respect for your time.

Halo 3’s Vidmaster Challenge Annual, for example, asks you to finish the final mission of the game on the diamond-hard hardest difficulty setting in a team of four without any of you dying.

But the sweet, sweet gamerscore will more than make up for all the hard work, right? Wrong! It’s worth 0G. What did we ever do to you, Halo?

Still, it’s just the one level. Half-Life 2 Episode 2’s Little Rocket Man achievement demands you carry a garden gnome with you through the entire game.

That’s seven hours of platforming, being set upon by giant ants and driving while chaperoning a garden ornament. Your reward at the end of this ordeal? 30G. No thanks. That gnome is getting gravity-gunned into a lake.

Ever been appalled by the insulting amount of gamerscore for a punishing cheevo? Let us know in the comments.
